Something big is brewing in Ledbury

The Ledbury Community Hub is thrilled to announce that we are leading the charge for Ledbury to be named the UK Town of Culture 2028!

 

This isn't just a competition; it’s a chance to put our town on the national stage. If we win, Ledbury will receive a £3 million prize fund to deliver an incredible six-month cultural extravaganza in 2028. Even reaching the final stages could unlock a £250,000 grant or a £60,000 bid development fund to help us realize our local ambitions

Why Ledbury? Why Now?

The "Town of Culture" title is awarded to places that can tell a compelling story about their identity while addressing local challenges. We know Ledbury has the heritage, the creative spark, and the community spirit to win - but we can’t do it without you.

 

We are looking for ideas that:
Celebrate our identity: From the buildings to the people to the landscapes - what makes Ledbury Ledbury 
Empower our people: Creating new skills and career opportunities for our younger residents - imagine a town full of new music, big events and affordable culture
Reach everyone: Making sure culture is visible and accessible to every single person in our town.

The Roadmap to 2028

The clock is ticking, and we need to submit our initial Expression of Interest (EOI) by the end of March. Here is how the journey looks:

 

  • March 31, 2026: Deadline for our initial "Expression of Interest".
  • Spring 2026: Shortlisted towns are announced (this is where we find out if we've won that £60,000 development grant!).
  • Autumn 2026: An expert panel visits our town to meet the team and see our plans in person.
  • Early 2027: The final winner is officially crowned.
  • 2028: Our year to shine!
