UPSTREAM - DISCOVER THE RIVER WYE

7TH - 10TH AUGUST

Learn more about local environmental issues, collect evidence and share your findings. This four day project will include a canoe trip down the river wye where we will be collecting water samples to take back and test. We’ll then look at what we’ve learned and assess the water pollution levels. Lunches and transport to the Wye included. Open to all 13-16 year old. This project is made possible by the Royal Society of Chemistry.

As part of the Food Alliances effor to pick process and donate the wasted apples from the counties trees, the Ledbury Community Hub will be hosting a cook up to process and preserve the harvest for Ledbury Food Bank. Join Herefordshire Wildlife Trust and Ledbury Community Hub for an orchard inspired evening - including a locally sourced and produced two course community supper and an apple identification workshop by Julia Morton (the resident HWT orchard expert). Julia will be accompanied by Jamie, HWT CEO, who will deliver an inspiring talk on the transformation HWT are a part of leading, and hear news about the emerging Nature Action Network in Herefordshire! An afternoon designed to ignite young imaginations in partnership with Sustainable Ledbury . Activities include: Wildlife music workshop with local composer Liz Dilnot Jones (play a part in writing a song for Ledbury Celebration 2022!), hapa zome flower bunting station, adding to the life size poe-tree and more, all alongside the ‘Looking After Our World’ poetry competition prize giving. THE TALE OF THE BIRD & THE TREE (Ledbury Poetry Festival)

- Taking flight on the 10th -

A community art project to bring people together and heighten our awareness of the value of the natural world - in aid of Sustainable Ledbury. Two art installations will be open to visit throughout the festival - the bird at Take4 Gallery and the tree at Pot & Page. Visit both, make your mark & witness your efforts come to life at Ledbury Celebration 2022 (10th July), when the bird will take flight & soar over to join the tree at St. Katherine’s car park, with musical accompaniment written by local composer Liz Dilnot Johnson. To mark 90 years since Amelia Earhart's first solo trans-atlantic flight, we are partnering with the brilliantly creative VegLifeEats to celebrate with a journey through food - a seven course meal based on Earhart's world flight in 1937. Starting in South America, we will then head over to East Africa, before journeying further eastwards to India, over to South East Asia and finally ending our trip in Australia. Tickets - £25
